My favorite Nashville area outdoor spots
Jessi here! I grew up in Nashville, TN (before it was a major tourist destination). I love giving locals and travelers off-the-beaten-path recommendations.
Nashvillians are lucky to have an incredible array of beautiful parks and hiking trails, with varying degrees of difficulty.
Radnor Lake State Park
Explore nature by hiking the scenic trails around Radnor Lake. It's a peaceful retreat with diverse wildlife and beautiful landscapes.
Percy Warner Park
Enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and picnicking in Percy Warner Park. The Warner Parks offer a great escape into nature.
Beaman Park
Beaman is one of my favorite hiking spots near Nashville! With unpaved trails, solid inclines, and access via country roads, Beaman is in my top picks for hiking near Nashville. (Parking gets tricky on weekends, so plan accordingly and carpool if you're hiking with friends.)
Two Rivers Park
Two Rivers Park, a 374 acre park located in the heart of Donelson, is home to more recreation activities than any other park in Nashville. Two Rivers Park is easily accessed from Briley Parkway, McGavock Pike and from Shelby Bottoms in East Nashville via the pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland River. Two Rivers includes a municipal golf course, frisbee golf, picnic shelters, skate park, and a gorgeous view from the pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland River.
Shelby Park
Shelby Park is a 300-acre multi-use park just two miles from Downtown Nashville along the Cumberland River. Including Shelby Bottom Natural Area, the park expands to over 1200 acres and features river views, playgrounds, a fenced off-leash dog park, adult and youth ball fields, golf courses, and Sevier Lake.
I hope you enjoy exploring Nashville's beautiful parks and hiking areas as much as I do.
Happy Travels! ✨
